Speed of TElShellList

Is there any way to speed up the TElShellList when it points to a folder containing huge amount of files. If I point to a folder containing tens of thousands of files (actually 80,000 files), my application becomes unresponsive for several minutes before it displays the files in this folder. I know TElTree can be much faster than this.
