If I use this component and select Libraries\Pictures the FocussedDisplayName is:

::{031E4825-7B94-4DC3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}\Pictures.library-ms

What I'd expect is c:\users\USER\Pictures

Is there a way to get the component to return the Path or to convert the value to the actual path?

Use ItemFocused.FullName. However, for some virtual items it returns GUID. If this will be your case - then there is no way, because, formally, shell items are not files.
