Accessing text in drag and drop and clipboard in LMDRichEdit demo

I have two questions:

1) I want to test if what is being dragged into LMDRichEdit is text and then process the text (remove line returns and add quotation marks). I'm not sure which event to use with the LMDRichEdit control and how to test that what is dragged is text and then how to process (access) the text.

2) Is there a LMD component that gives me access to the clipboard? I want what I copy from another program (this other program has the focus) to automatically be pasted into a program with LMDRichEdit that doesn't have the focus (and as above I want to process the text before it is automatically pasted into the LMDRichEdit).

Could some one give me a lead on how to do these two things?

Slowness on moving large selection

This is now a huge problem for us - the amount of time that a user has to wait is not acceptable to them as it can take 30 seconds or more from the user starting the drag to the point where the wireframing is done and the drag actually starts.

The system is used to create process control forms for ship control systems and one object like (eg) a ship's pump can be made up of a lot of components. The user will often need to move all of these components at once to reposition the pump to add additional components.

Do the handles really need to be hidden? Can they not be moved with the components or would that be just as slow? We desperately need to
find a solution for this.

I commented out the line (FSelCtrls.SetVisible(False) ) that hides the handles, and the move is now almost instant and I can't see any problems so far. (Except of course the handles are still visible which isn't a problem for us).

Hi,

I'm using C++Builder 2007 with LMD-Tools 11 and when I'm making a new component with TLMDListBox as ancestor, I have the following linker error:

[ILINK32 Error] Error: Unresolved external '__fastcall Lmdcustomscrollbox::TLMDCustomScrollBox::PaintWindow(HDC__ *)' referenced from MyListBox.OBJ

How can I resolve that ?

The ultimate goal of doing that is to make this control works with CodeBear TestComplete, by integrating MSAA or by exposing some new properties in order to query the current selection (If some one has hint about that, I would be happy to hear about it).

Floating dock panels on multi-monitor system (Windows 10)

Hello all,

I've noticed that dragging a floating dock panel over to a second monitor leaves artifacts on the screen; the glow edges around the form are displayed dislocated from the form. The issue is easily reproducable with the docking pack demo from your website. Please see the screenshot attached.

The issue occurs when the second monitor uses a different DPI setting (scaling factor) than the primary monitor. I'm using a scale factor of 125% on my laptop, for example, but when I attach an external monitor, Windows 10 sets the scaling to 100% for this monitor. Undocking a dock panel and dragging it over to the second monitor shows the issue outlined above.

Is this a known problem?

New Bug: No event handler when VCL Style is applied

Using latest IDE-Tools.

When VCL Style is applied, double clicking on a TButton in TLMDDesignPanel does not generate a ModuleValidateEventHandlerName in the TLMDModule. However, when I double click on a button and no VCL Style is applied, ModuleGetEventHandlerName and ModuleValidateEventHandlerName are fired when I doulbe click on a TButton.

You can re-create this bug in the pIDE2 demo app.

Please fix. Thank you.

Any chance we can have a tool-type panel that allows tabs to be placed on the top, like in the Delphi IDE? Right now, it's just the document-type panel that display tabs at the top, yes? Thanks.

New TLMDMenuDesigner Component

Create a new TLMDMenuDesigner that would look and feel like the Delphi menu designer when dropping a TMainMenu onto a design form.

This would make it a lot more user friendly.

Floating dockpanel doesn't resize correct (multi monitor DPI) and cannot maximize

Hi,

We have been testing with the 2019.2 release today and encounter two problems with multi-monitor high dpi settings. I have the following settings: 2 monitors, the first monitor is 4k (200% scaled, internal laptop screen), the second monitor is 1080p (100% scaled) and the second monitor is set as primary desktop.

1. If you move a panel from 96 DPI to 192 DPI, the font and pictures are sized correctly (yes!), but the size of the panel does NOT scale. This is not normal behavior with multi-monitor high DPI. You can reproduce it by starting the attached example on the primary desktop (1080p monitor, 96 DPI) and move the panel to the other monitor.

2. After moving the panel to the 4k monitor, you cannot maximize the panel. If you click the maximize button, the panel is maximized on the second monitor (the primary desktop monitor, 1080p, 96 DPI).

Is this a known problem? And do you have any suggestions for fixing it?

TLMDComponentBar - New DisplayCaption property

It would be really helpful to be able to use a "DisplayCaption" in the TLMDComponentBar for each component listed.

Right now, when I register a component in the TLMDComponentBar, I use this:

CompBar.RegisterComponent(COMPONENT_PALETTE_STANDARD, TLabel, 0);

But, I would to be able to use something like this:

CompBar.RegisterComponent(COMPONENT_PALETTE_STANDARD, TLabel, 'Label', 0);

Display issues in TLMDListBoxExt

There's an issue when resizing a form that includes a TLMDListBoxExt with multiple columns/headersections, the data will return back to the first HeaderSection (even if the user has scrolled to the middle, but the scrollbar doesn't return back to its original position. Hence there's an 'overscroll' issue (to a blank region beyond the data), if you now scroll back to the initial position.

Currently, to get support for the new 64-Bit C++ compiler, after installing LMD I have to open the project group, change all runtime packages to this target, and rebuild them all.

Could the installer be upgraded to supply prebuilt packages and libraries for this toolchain.

Delphi 11.3 crashed after installation LMD ElPack

I installed Delphi 11.3 in a new VM on Windows 11 ARM and it starts correctly. After installing the current LMD ElPack, Delphi crashes completely when starting. If I uninstall the components it works again. I have not yet installed my own components and have not changed any of the settings in Delphi.

I have been working with LMD Tools for many years now,
currently using latetst LMD Tools 2022.8 on WIN11,
RadStudio 11.3, with latest help files installed.

While the tools functionality has been wonderfully enhanced over time,
at the same time the help files seem to go down the drain.

Most time I use F1 to get help on some element,
I either get no or a totally rudimentary help entry.
(Just one of 1000 examples, try to get help on TLMDSysSystemInfo)

Escaping for help to the CHM files sometimes helps a bit,
but most times does not give more information.

I am software developer, and I dislike to have to guess about functions all the time.
A proper help file is the backbone of this kind of tools,
so my question:

Am I wrong ?
Is anybody else here as frustrated as me by the scarce documentation ?

Once more, I lopve the tools, but I think I could make way more out of it
if they were properly documented.

If I use one of the ide demo's I can create more units/forms. But I only have access to the root if I start the script. How do I access the other form(s) in the project? I used 'use unit2;' this does not generate errors. However unit2.show, form2.show does generate an unknown identifier problem.

Somewhere between V9.4 and 9.7 a problem has crept in. If you display the menu items with the font set to Bold, the width calculated for each item is incorrect and so the end of the text can get cut off.

With Themes turned on it appears fine. Classic Mode there is a problem.

ElXTree: How to paint a custom bitmap in OnItemDraw

Hello,

I'm using ElXTree as a grid. Column 0 should show a bitmap.

I tried many configurations, OwnerDrawByColumn, elhsOwnerDraw...... but I never get it work without changing the ElPack sources.

OnCellDraw paints the bitmap but then I have to paint everything, even the grid-lines, which i don't want to paint myself.

That can't be that complicated;)

Detect when DockPanel gets hidden

is it possible to detect when a TLMDDockPanel gets hidden?

I need this for follwowing two cases:

1. The Panels is not pinned and gets hidden automaticaly after clicking into an other area

2. The Panel ist tabbed and an other panel (within the same collection) is activated

There are 2 columns of dates in the ElXtree; columns 0 and 1.

RoSelected and FullRowSelect are both True.

When the user presses F2 I want the left column of dates to be placed into edit mode,

and Shift+F2 for the right column of dates.

I use an Action Manager action to process the keys, and this is not an issue.

I have tried:

with TimeTree do

begin

RowSelect := False;

FullRowSelect := False;

with ItemFocused do

begin

Cells[0].Selected := True;

end;

InPlaceDTP.StartOperation();

Although there is a change of highlight on the row that is similar to what happens when I use the mouse to edit one of the datetime cells, I am unable to edit the datetime value.

What needs to be done to make this work?

Component for Compression with 7-zip Dll

Currently 7z is the best file compressor there is but there is no good component in Delphi

Jedi JCL however uses a very old version of DLL and does not support the newer versions of 7z.

For commercial use Delphi's native zlip is very slow and generates a very large compact file for a 3gb database or higher.

several components like "Zipmaster" and "ziptv" no longer exist.

they use their own algorithm which I consider a waste because they are slow and also generate a very large compressed file compared to 7-zip

TLMDDockPanel - Font Color for Caption

VCL vs EL vs NG

It seems there is some overlap with some components. eg there are dialogs available under NG dialogs and also the dialog pack. For other components there are duplicates in the EL set. eg ElInspector vs SimplePropInspector

Is there a recommendation for which set of components to use? eg favor NG over EL over other components.

TLMDDBDateTimePicker problem

Hi, i used this component connected to a datasource with autoedit set to True. If i click on the edit, on the "white part" of the component, where i can digit the date with the keyboard, all goes ok. Otherwise, if i click with the mouse on the button with the arrow that opens the calendar, the Dataset doesn't change the his state to "edit".

TElXTree, OnItemCreated event not called.

Hi,

At design time, I placed an TElXTree on a form, added some items, and added event handlers for OnItemCreated and OnItemDeletion.

If I run the application, OnItemCreated is not called for the items that was specified at design time. If I close / free the form, the OnItemDeletion event is indeed called for each item.

Is this a bug?

I would like to save a program variable automatically and re-load automatically a.k.a LMDStorPropertiesStorage.
Can I do it with the above component? If so, please advise how.
If not. Can you suggest an alternative mechanism?
